My family loves Christmas, and living in the Orlando area means visiting the Theme Parks during the holidays. We start making plans in the early fall and mark our calendars with what days we are going and when. And while Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park does not have as many holiday offerings as some other parks, that doesn’t mean it is any less fun!
As soon as you enter the Discovery Island area you are greeted by gorgeous artisan-sculpted puppets of arctic animals you wouldn’t normally see in the Florida sun - penguins, reindeer, foxes, and even polar bears.
Mickey and Minnie get all dressed up in their best holiday attire and greet guests at Adventurer’s Outpost. It is a great chance to snap that holiday card pic!
Hungry for a snack? You are in luck because, throughout the month of December, several restaurants will add some special desserts to their menus. Pizzafari and Restaurantosaurus will offer a Merry Menagerie Cupcake, and from December 22 – 31, a Mickey Holiday Mousse Dome will be available at Creature Comforts and there will be a Peppermint Cream Cheese Mousse at Satu’li Canteen. Yum!
And as the sun sets, the Tree of Life comes alive for the Holiday Edition of Tree of Life Awakenings – and the air is filled with songs of the season as you watch the animals celebrate!
What a great day in the park, and a fun way to kick off the holiday season!
