Route 50

Route 50 is Route 66’s bigger, badder sibling, stretching from Ocean City, MD, to Sacramento, CA. Route 50 hits 12 states and the District of Columbia on its 3,073 mile path across the country, with one section nicknamed the Loneliest Road in America. This journey will take you to deserts, mountains, farmlands, and ocean views, as well as the less-natural but still-impressive Lincoln Memorial and St. Louis Arch. You could do this trip in a week, but we recommend building in time to get out of the car and be part of the rich history of this coast-to-(almost)-coast highway.
